Town Caucus Sample Agenda

The Town Caucus should be held in a public space within your town.

​

​​​(The caucus begins with the current Town Committee Chairman calling the meeting to order.  If no Town Chairman exists, then one of the three persons who posted the warning begins the caucus until the Caucus Chairman is elected.)

​​Call the Caucus to Order

Welcome to the [your town name goes here] Republican Town Caucus!

It is now [the time of your meeting goes here] and I call this caucus to order for the purpose of electing the officers and members of the caucus.

Say The Pledge of Allegiance​
​​We will say the Pledge of Allegiance.  Please stand, face the flag, place your right hand over your heart and state with me: 
​

(​"I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.")

Elect a Caucus Chairman

First, we will elect a Caucus Chairman to conduct the caucus.  Are there nominations?  [nominee's name] has been nominated.  Are there any other nominations?  Hearing none, all those in favor of as Caucus Chairman say "aye."  All those opposed say "nay."  The "ayes" have it and [nominee's name] is elected Caucus Chairman.

​​Elect a Caucus Secretary

Next, we will elect a Caucus Secretary to record notes. Are there nominations? [nominee's name] has been nominated. Are there any other nominations? Hearing none, all those in favor of [nominee's name] as Caucus Secretary say "aye." All those opposed say "nay." The ‘ayes’ have it and [nominee's name] is elected Caucus Secretary.

(The secretary should immediately begin recording notes- nominations, elections, discussion topics, if any)

(NOTE: All nominees: (1) Must be registered voters on the town voter checklist, (2) May not be a member of another political party, (3) Are not required to attend this caucus.)

​​Elect Members of the Town Committee

(NOTE: the caucus may elect as many members to the Town Committee as desired)

Finally, we will elect the members of our [your town name goes here] Republican Town Committee.  Are there nominations? [nominee's name] has been nominated. Are there any other nominations?

Hearing none, I will entertain a motion to elect the nominees as members of the [your town name goes here] Republican Town Committee.  All those in favor of [nominee's name] as Caucus Secretary say "aye." All those opposed say "nay." The ‘ayes’ have it and the nominees are elected.
